Style Spotlight: Marino Tomassini

For most of my life, I lived in Michigan. I was born there, I was raised there and it’s the place I call home. Although I’ve lived in fabulous cities like San Diego and now Las Vegas, there are still certain elements missing from them, deterring me from really calling them “home”. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve met many beautiful and wonderful people in both cities, but I think the hardest part of moving from home was missing the people I was leaving behind. And although I still keep in contact with many of my friends and family who still live there, sometimes seeing a familiar face can really remind me of the joys that Michigan holds.

So as fate would have it, one of my friends from back home, Marino, moved here to Vegas. I was thrilled and absolutely ecstatic !!! Seeing my friend really brought me down memory lane, where I remembered all of the shenanigans we got into as high schoolers without a care in the world. But of course, we’ve grown up since then.

One of the best things about meeting up with someone you haven’t seen in years is realizing how much they’ve changed since you last saw them. Maybe it’s in the way they’ve grown into themselves, or the way their eyes light up when they talk about their passions in life that you never knew about when you were younger, or the way their face has aged and how tall they’ve gotten.

The second best thing is seeing how this person hasn’t changed, like in the way they laugh, the way they express their excitement, or how their heart shines through their words the same way it did the last time you saw them. I don’t mean to sound sentimental and corny, but all of this ran through my head when I saw Marino again. I’ve always found Marino such a light of joy, full of positive insight and ready to take life by the reigns under any circumstance. As an intelligent, driven and hardworking person, I know only greatness and success will follow Marino wherever life leads.

Confident, bubbly, and full of wise words and wit, seeing and talking to Marino really inspires me. And of course, anyone I find noteworthy is someone I want to share with the world. So for this week’s #StyleSpotlight, I present to you, my beautiful, fabulous and fashionable friend, Marino Tomassini.

Being from the other side of the country, what would you say is the difference between where you’re from to where you live now?
Where I’m from is home. It feels like home, it smells like home. That might sound crazy, but there’s a completely different vibe back in Michigan from Las Vegas, Nevada. Here in Nevada, I feel like people are somewhat out to get each other to further themselves in making money. There are more lies and scandal here. Michigan isn’t a perfect state, but it is definitely more friend and family oriented.

When it comes to men’s style, what would say are the three key pieces in any man’s closet?
Skinny jeans, any style belt and a watch to tie the look together. Every man looks better wearing a watch.

If you could describe yourself in three words, you would say you were…
There are so many different descriptions of me, so thank you for asking only for three haha! I would describe myself as funny; I love seeing people smile and enjoy their time with me. I’m very spontaneous; I like to play things by ear and not really have a plan. Lastly, I’m loyal; I stay true to anyone I give my trust to.

Is there a men’s beauty product that you couldn’t live without?
Kiehl’s skincare for men.

Who or what inspires you?
It may sound cliché, but my mother is my #1 inspiration. Being a single mom, working six days a week and still giving her children everything they want and need takes a strong person to handle it all. 🙂

What are your three remedies for stress relief?
I close my eyes and breathe to call myself down. Also, I’ll workout at the gym, and if I’m REALLY stressed out, I’ll take it out on a cocktail! LOL

What do you think of the idea of having everything figured out in your 20s?
I’m not gonna lie, the idea of having everything figured out in my 20’s really scares me. I feel like if you’re in your 20’s, you should still be having fun. You should be partying, traveling, being naive and making stupid decisions. At the same time, it’s the time where you really need to figure out what’s going to keep you afloat and make you money for the rest of your life.

If you could talk to your 16 year old self, what’s the best piece of advice you would give yourself?
The best piece of advice I would give to 16 year old Marino would be, “Come out of the closet now!” It’s the best thing that ever happened to me, and if I could rewind and do it sooner and let everyone know, I would.

If you could live anywhere in the world, money not being something to worry about, where would you choose and why?
In a perfect world, I would love to have an estate in Manhattan, NY. I would also like to have an ocean view home in Malibu, CA. I need a little bit of west & east coast in my life.

What’s a men’s style trend that you absolutely adore? What’s one you absolute just despise?
I do have to say that I adore the man bun/beard combo, but only if it’s done right! I don’t think there’s a trend that I despise at the moment though.

If you could work alongside with any of your role models, (celebrity or non-celebrity) who would it be?
I would LOVE to work alongside Jennifer Lawrence. She’s an amazing actress. From interviews I’ve seen, she seems like such a goofball and so fabulous.
